News from the Bounds
Dear Friends, Family & Supporters,
George Müller the famous 19th century German missionary, who is known for his
extraordinary faith in God to provide all his needs, has been a hero of the faith and an
example to many including our family. We have revisited his story numerous times in
this last year and have been struck by the simple child-like faith of this man, who
proclaimed that he simply believed what God said in His Word and trusted God to do
as He had said He would.
It is far easier to say that I have faith, than it is to live by faith. Recently I was invited to
speak at a Church in Illinois and the passage that God gave me to preach from was
Matthew 8, where Jesus calms the storm. Jesus doesn’t have a problem with the
disciples lack of faith, but rather with their fear. It was the “little faith” that made the
disciples come to Jesus in the first place, but it was the fear that caused them to doubt
that He cared for them.
I find myself at this cross road numerous times a day it seems. Trying to lay my
burdens on Jesus and to trust Him that everything is going to work out the way He has
planned, but struggling with the what if He doesn't work it out the way I'm hoping. Jesus
told the disciples to get in the boat and in His understanding to come into the storm
with Him. I find myself and my family in the middle of the storm and we have
approached Jesus with our cries for help. It seems as though at the moment we are
still in the inbetween stage of Jesus speaking to us before He calms the storm. I’m
sure it seemed like an eternity to those fearful disciples too when Jesus was asking
them of their faith while the waves were still “filling the boat”. I know in the story what
comes next – THE GREAT CALM and the disciples marveling at who this Jesus really
is!? But it sure seems like an eternity!
I don’t really want to tell you of all the things we face as a family at this point, because I
want to see how this chapter ends before I share it, but rather I want to encourage you
that Jesus is in the boat with you no matter what struggles you have and no matter how
high the waves are that surround you.
God is always in control, even when it seems He’s sleeping!
Blessings to you all – and I really mean it!
